On My Love List - Skirted Tables
I’m continuing to share specific design elements that I love to incorporate into a room’s design. At the top of my “Love List” are skirted tables.
Here’s why.
They are infinitely customizable. Between the fabric, trim, and thousands of details at our disposal, you are limited only by your imagination.
They add softness, color and personality in a way that a piece of furniture simply cannot.
Looking for storage? Skirted tables can keep clutter from public view. Anything from books, magazines, kids toys, dog toys and your random assortment of clutter can be hidden from sight behind a skirted table.
Shall we explore the many ways to incorporate a skirted table in your home?

Think on this. Most entryways are little more than flooring, walls, a door and a light fixture. This is where a beautiful fabric accented with trim can do the heavy lifting to make a great first impression! The right fabric selection can introduce your home’s color palette and add softness and personality from the moment you enter your home. 10/10 recommend.
The Green Room Interiors client project on Signal Mountain
Ok the table skirt above is centered in an upstairs landing area. We had the skirted table made for my client’s first home over 10 years ago where it was placed in the entryway in the curve of their gorgeous staircase. We incorporated the skirted table in their new home because we still loved the fabric and it fit the space and color palette perfectly. That’s what I call a win!
Interior design by The Green Room Interiors in Chattanooga, TN
Most recently we incorporated a skirted table in the center of a turreted sunroom on Elder Mountain. It displays the homeowners personal artifacts in such a stylish way. Gardening books, photos, candlesticks and the horse sculpture were all sourced from within their home. This project was a portion of a kitchen and sunroom renovation that included the creation of a mud room. More photos to come soon!
In a previous post I mentioned that stripes are also on my Love List, so this is a two-fer.
Skirted dining table - Erin Lauder
On my list of things I’d love to do is incorporate a to-the-floor table skirt at my dining table. Yes, I do love and still believe in a formal dining room and since it’s a room reserved for special occasions, a custom table skirt would definitely elevate the entire dining experience.
Dining room that does double duty as a library by William McClure
In the dining room above by William McClure, a casual skirted table works as a library table to get maximum functionality from a single room. The stripes feel effortless and tone down the formality of the space. Gorgeous room all around, and one to file away for future reference.
